Business Comfort
How is workwear fashion evolving in Covid times?
The world is moving forward and adapting as we learn to cope and coexist with Covid. As companies experiment to recalibrate new in-office routines around the world, office workwear also is evolving as employees return to physical spaces after working from their living rooms for 18 months.
As colleagues come together again, it’s clear many are not completely ready to give up their soft knits and elastic waist pants, and new trends such as “workleisure” -- office appropriate leisurewear -- and “business comfort” are starting to emerge. Before the pandemic, start-ups and tech companies had already started pushing the boundaries of office attire, trading suits and ties for sneakers and tees. Now, a return to the office is pushing the trend even further to the comfortable end of the spectrum.
According to Stitch Fix, not only are people requesting more workleisure-style clothing, traditionally form-fitting pieces like denim & blazers also will evolve to have more stretch or looser fits. In addition to the added comfort, incorporating more variety will add excitement for anyone looking for newness in their wardrobe and opportunities to assert individuality.
While office attire that provides more comfort is becoming more accepted, designer dresses and suits will still have their place. Currently, demand for women's occasion wear, rompers and jumpsuits, and jewelry and accessories, as well as men’s button-down shirts and tailored suits are all rising, in line with a continuous rise of retail sales.
