And Bottega Veneta’s new megastore in New York

New York opened the spring/summer 2018 fashion season with men and women’s fashion week. Several top menswear designers showed their wares on the runways, including Todd Snyder, Raf Simons and Tom Ford. Shows for the fairer sex included Jason Wu, Alexander Wang and Mansur Gavriel: an accessories label recently branched out into clothing. The biggest shows of the week were a couple of co-ed extravaganzas from the house of minimalist American sensuality Calvin Klein loaded with symbolism and political inference.

Kering-owned house Bottega Veneta left its usual post in Milan and made a one-off jump across the Atlantic to celebrate the launch of its largest store in the world on Madison Avenue: a five-story, behemoth temple of Italian luxury goods displaying homeware alongside men’s and womenswear.

Post New York, the fashion herd flocked to the UK capital to observe Burberry’s all-important show and a line-up featuring young labels like palmer // harding, Molly Goddard, and JW Anderson. Following London, the assemblage will continue to move on for Milan and Paris for women’s fashion.
